Adapting and responding to circumstance and surrounding. Taking up the urgent challenge of the now and leaping into the swirling maybe with all ears open. Making the best of a situation unforseen.

We were in Italy for a short tour with the CARTOON trio. At the very last moment our third member, percussionist Roger Turner, was taken ill and couldn't make the flight. Upon arrival at the venue we put our heads together with the promoter and it was decided: rather than finding another drummer, we should go on as a duo. This recording is the result: two musicians, in a challenging circumstance, reacting and creating in the moment. The first time we'd worked in this configuration, no third voice, no tunes or starting points, before a full house in another part of the world. This is the sound of adaptability and invention.
